![]() ![]() The only exceptions are some specific upper limits on charms that require to be dropped by Nihlathak, Diablo, or Baal. This means that in level 85 areas technically any item in the game can drop from the bosses. ![]() This can be achieved in lvl 84 and 85 areas because the boss monsters there are higher than the area level. There are items that require a level 87 or higher monster to drop them. This is why there is so much talk about farming level 85 areas. ![]() This makes some uniques like Arachnid’s Mesh or Griffon’s Eye very rare because their base items (Spiderweb sash and Diadem respectively) require very high level areas or specific boss monsters in order to drop them. For example, Sigon’s Belt can be found anywhere a Plated Belt can be dropped by a monster or a poppable like a chest or corpse. Set and unique items can only be found wherever their base item type can be found. If you are looking for set and unique items that is a slightly different story. My recommendation is google “item level” + the item you want + the mod you want and do some digging. This information is available on wikis and other sites but can be tedious to figure out if you’re looking for off-meta items. That means that you have to drop the item from a monster in an area that has the area level equal to or higher than the required item level. For certain items to roll certain mods like number of sockets or resistances for example, they need to be a high enough item level. Champion and Boss monsters (ie the ones that have minions) have monster level equal to area level +2 and +3 respectively. Items that drop from those monsters will have item level equal to the monster level which is equal to the area level. The base monsters in that area are the same level as the area level. So basically every area has an area level. ![]() Short answer is that you want to get into hell difficulty and farm there.
